MIX: Rasta Rock - 2009 roots & digital stylee (EU & US)

Another modern roots mix with strictly 2009 tracks. No Jamaican productions in this one, mainly EU productions (Netherlands, Germany, UK), with a few from the US. Roots and digital are the main ingredients for this one, variety of artists, producers and styles. Wicked tunes in this one people, trust me. Same recipe as always, one continuous mix, no full tunes, added sound samples and source-info given so you can go and track down these tunes yourself.

Great selection as usual. Have dug up most of the originals. Keep up the great work!

Yes Erik, thanks for the continuous support! Much appreciated.

You mean most of the originals to the riddims used in the mix?

This is my guess:

Tracks 1,2 : some old Treasure Isle riddim, don't know original

Tracks 5-7 : Keith & Tex - Tonight

Tracks 9-12 : Rupie Culture - Dancehall Bubbler

Tracks 13-16 : Tenor Saw - Jah Guide And Protect Me

Tracks 17-21 : Super Cat - Come Down

Tracks 36-37: Abyssinians - Declaration Of Rights

(all others are original riddims as far as I know)

Had no idea that the Necessary Mayhem riddim was based on a Super Cat track. My fellow Swedes' Million Stylez & Joey Fever are doing top notch work on that one.

I actually meant that I've bought most of the tracks in the mix. I previoulsy had some of them, but the rest were so nice that they had to be bought.

Even nicer, Erik! When people start buying tunes after hearing 'm in one of my mixes, that's about the ultimate compliment for me! Helps me in hearing people rate the tunes, supports the artists by buying the music and overall is what I hope to achieve. So very nice to hear that!

BMC you are the shit man I just recently stumbled upon your mixes and i gotta say I am very impressed with you mr. selektor well done! tip of the cap to you sir. I have downloaded all of your mixes available on this blog and will probably be soon requesting your older ones if you care to upload them for me. These mixes are better than listening to any reggae radio station. Thanks again. On my quest to uncover hidden riddims and sacred jewels you have come to my aid thank you thank you thank you

How long have you been mixing? How long have you been posting to this blog?

Hi gsav,

Wow, thanks for the very kind words, very nice to hear / read and much much appreciated.

I started making mixes to put up in the summer of 2006 on podomatic. Last year I moved over to this site when podomatic started making comments and things like that for members only and since I don't make my mixes for members only, but for one and all, I decided to move on and do it blog-style, where I at least put up all info on my older mixes (not audio for all, uploading takes ages) plus some favourite-lists and other things worth mentioning in my opinion. With regards to future mixes, I've got more plans than time, so they'll keep coming, but slowly.

Thanks again!

Seriously man, best selection yet, slow starter but I'm really loving the new digital sounds.

Big ups Rasta!

Any chance we can get an archive somewhere, or all the mixes to date in a torrent?

Peace
